Over the years since I posted my article on silver and its toxic dangers, I've received a series of hate mailings, but one I got recently really takes the cake. A fellow named Geoffrey Leigh from Australia, who says he is an ND, sent me the following message, which was not only disrespectful and ignored the clear citations in my silver article of argyria (toxic silver poisoning, gray-blue skin, nerve and organ damage) caused by colloidal silver, but included a threat of "legal action" if I did not remove the article from my website!
When I answered his email, pointing out that I had real evidence of real people (including some of my clients) who have gotten argyria from taking colloidal silver, he claimed that the formulation that he promotes was safe. I asked him for real evidence of this (for instance, did he have analysis of lab experiments proving that the formulation he promotes has no affinity to nerve tissue, and that it does not bioaccumulate). I have received no response to this request; instead he sent me more emails berating me for the article.
Here is his letter.
Your attack on colloidal silver demonstrates a lack of knowledge on the subject. as for effectiveness, the attached will put egg all over your face, if your head is not too big. [a false statement]
Furthermore, there is not the slightest chance of colloidal silver causing argyria. [a false statement]
One produces 99.999% 20ppm EIS and effectively treats a wide range of infection including MRSA. [a true statement, but so what? There are better, natural antibiotics available]
Only silver salts such as nitrate can cause argyria [a false statement], Check FDA toxicity profile [do we trust the FDA now?] and remove your slanderous advertisement [a false statement] or we shall take appropriate legal action [a threat. What a nice fellow]

Let's analyze this letter for a moment.
First, he claims that my article demonstrates a "lack of knowledge of the subject." This, despite the fact that the article lays out a clear description of the clinically diagnosed harm that colloidal silver - as well as other forms of silver - have caused, with numerous citations as evidence.
He then states that his attachments "will put egg all over my face," but the attachments are just another claim of safety with no evidence and an article claiming that silver kills staph germs. A lot of things kill staph germs - sulfuric acid, chlorine bleach, cyanide - but I wouldn't recommend consuming those chemicals either. Germ-killing efficacy does not mean safety.
Then he goes on the offensive, stating that "there is not the slightest chance of colloidal silver causing argyria," and "Only silver salts such as nitrate can cause argyria. Check the FDA toxicity profile." This, despite the multiple citations of actual people who got argyria from consuming colloidal silver, including my own clients. And we are to trust the FDA, the agency that allows tens of thousands of deadly toxic drugs to be prescribed by doctors?
Then comes the threat: he (the royal "we") shall take legal action unless I remove my "advertisement." Advertisement? An article warning people that silver is not what it's hyped up to be? And how and on what basis would he take "legal action?" Is this just mean-spirited hot air?
Colloidal silver causes argyria - toxic silver poisoning whose outer symptom is blue-gray skin. The inner symptoms are far worse: silver is a bio-accumulative neurotoxin which harms nerve tissues, neurons in the central nervous system, and other tissues throughout the body. All I can say is that people like Geoffrey Leigh who promote colloidal silver really believe in their products, but, in my opinion, they don't seem to want to acknowledge that their products cause serious harm to people.
What is most sad about this is that this fellow, who claims to be a practicing ND, may be causing his patients great harm by prescribing colloidal silver, and by doing this I believe he also discredits naturopathic medicine. There is nothing natural about colloidal silver, other than the fact that it is derived from rocks. It has no metabolic use in the human body.
I urge anyone who has been treated by Geoffrey Leigh - or any other health practitioner who has promoted colloidal silver - and who has any adverse symptoms to seek legal counsel. In my opinion that promotion of colloidal silver is unethical and criminally negligent, given the available public data on colloidal silver and its causal connection to argyria.
My advice: If you want to invest in silver bullion or coins, that is OK. But stay away from silver products for consumption, including colloidal silver. If you have a serious infection, there are some very good natural antibiotics, such as intravenous vitamin C, oregano oil, and andrographis, which have no adverse side effects (other than the obvious one: if you take any oral antibiotic too long, it will reduce the natural e coli in your intestine, and you'll need to take probiotics to replenish them.) Please seek the advice of a naturopathic health practitioner who has experience using these safe, natural antibiotics.
