Make Health, Not
War - Stop Codex Alimentarius Codex Alimentarius is a UN committee which was supposed to set minimum standards for nutrition worldwide. It was taken over by the world's largest pharmaceutical industry to promote a single agenda - the elimination of natural (nutrient, vitamin, mineral, herbal, and homeopathic) therapies and stop the distribution of information about these remedies. Why? Recent discoveries about large-dose nutrient and vitamin therapies that are effective against the world's major illnesses (heart disease, cancer, and AIDS) made it clear to the pharmaceutical companies that a major source of their revenue - high-price heart disease control drugs, chemotherapy drugs, and AIDS drugs - could be made obsolete by cheap, natural, non-patentable remedies that could be purchased without a doctor's prescription. For example, In 1991, Dr. Matthias Rath and Dr. Linus Pauling - the two-time Nobel Laureate, found the root cause of heart disease. Dr. Rath went on to prove that heart disease could be completely reversed with a simple nutrient regimen. Since Irwin Stone's and Linus Pauling's classic works about vitamin C 30 years ago, people all over the world - and especially in the United States - have learned that they can take control over their health and stay healthy without pharmaceutical drugs. There are thousands of books on natural therapies for every ailment from allergy to varicose veins, and an equivalent number of health food stores and vitamin shops to supply these remedies and keep people informed. Over the objections of the US pharmaceutical companies, a law was even passed to continue to allow U.S. citizens access to these nutritional therapies, and several European companies were fined for price-fixing some of the vitamins and minerals they manufactured. The Empire Strikes Back The world pharmaceutical industry regrouped and began drawing up plans to use the UN Codex Committee as the new forum for stopping this new health movement. Their plans - cloaked in the language of "safety" - are designed to make all nutritional therapies subject to pharmaceutical testing regulation, manufacture, and dose regulation. For each supplement and for each combination of supplements, expensive clinical trials would need to be done to prove their efficacy, even though their efficacy has already been proved by thousands of people for decades. Since there is little profit in selling these supplements (since they are inexpensive and have no patents), no company would have the resources to do such testing. A doctor's prescription would be needed to buy vitamins and minerals. They could only be manufactured by drug companies. The dosage in the prescription would be regulated. Eventually, publishing information about the supplements that was not "approved" would be illegal. Codex Alimentarius is a UN committee. Its rulings have the force of international law by use of "trade dispute resolution," that is, they can use the World Trade Organization to enforce what would amount to banning of nutritional therapies and distribution of health information about them. Even the U.S. law protecting access to vitamins would be overturned. Codex Must Be Stopped Dr. Matthias Rath, one of the pioneers of natural remedies, and his Dr. Rath Health Foundation, organized a 2002 Health Congress, held during the meeting of the Codex Committee in Berlin, Germany, on November 2, 2002. For information about the Health Congress, or more information about Codex, see the Rath Foundation website (below). Please make your voice heard. Get involved in the movement to stop Codex. |
